According to autechre themselves, "say
it however you like, it's a made
up word".
They pronounce it awe-tek-er. I started pronouncing it Ow-tek-ruh and
can't seem to persuade myself to pronounce it any other way.

The cichlisuite part: do they master on vinyl sometimes? :)
On chiastic slide:recury (Track 8), a
sample gradually fades in. It sounds
as though someone is saying "Teg-Oh-Ra" which just might be
a chopped up
sample of someone yelling "Autechre". Did anyone else hear this?
It's just
something I heard about quite a few months after buying the thing.
Jeff.

Is cichlisuite pronounced 'sickly-sweet'? Or, along the lines of
'autechre', are we licensed to pronounce it any way we please?
Electronic music folks are, for the most part, pretty weird.

That's odd, 'cos when I play it at 45
on my decks, it sounds pretty much
identical to the CD version. I guess someones turntable must be
jacked. 45 sounds fine for the first 3 tracks, but to get the best
results for Krib & Tilapia, I like to fiddle about with the turntable
settings so it can play at a speed in between 33 & 45. I find 33+8
is
too slow and 45-8 is too fast.

Subject:Autechre - Cichli Suite Question and Observation
when I bought Cichli Suite (Sickly Sweet)
on CD when it came out,I noticed that the
"teeth" of the CD-holder were completely gone.
I attributed this to mishandling during shipping
and thought nothing more of it.
The other day I put CS on, and I think
the
following:
Cichli suite = Sickly sweet = leaves you "toothless"
Is this mere coincidence that the CD
case had its
entire circle of teeth missing? Or is it a in-joke
by Booth and Brown? Does anyone else have a
toothless Cichli Suite CD case?

I think some people are taking Autechre's music WAY too far. :)
Seriously though, my CD's fine. You must
have got bad packaging.

Mine's okay, but I definitely have noticed that happening on a lot of
imported CD's. For instance, I went nuts awhile ago getting imported
Bjork singles (with her excellent B-sides and remixes) and about half
had a few missing teeth. I think it might be the overseas shipper. This
would be pretty scary though... "sickly-sweet"! :-) I have to
admit it's
pretty funny.

It must be a coincidence, but I think the cichlisuite box is unusually
sensitive. I ordered three copies wrom warpmart, but by mistake got
only one, whose teeth were all gone. Then greg sent me three new ones,
but one of them had a smashed box as well, so greg sent me yet another
one which was only slightly damaged.
